In my family, food has always had it's main place of tradition at Thanksgiving. I always knew who was going to bring the turkey, stuffing, and casseroles. My grandparents always handled the turkey, with all the meats evenly organized between the dark and white. One of my aunts always brought the stuffing, and it was cooked the same every year. Of course the usual sets of casseroles were always brought by another aunt of mine.
With the food, was always the tradition of meeting at my parents cabin, which has taken place for over 50 years (I've only been to 21 of them so far)! We all sit and eat at the same time every Thanksgiving, getting to enjoy the opportunity of meeting everybody and socializing. Sometimes one of my cousins may bring a girlfriend or boyfriend, and introduce them warmly to the family. I find food in my family brings a delightful sense of comfort and conversation, and allows everyone to sit and hear what's happening in each others lives. It is far from anything chaotic or
dysfunctional, and usually goes very smoothly each year.
